ORBA Member, Nevada Offroad Association, is asking for your support with the State of Nevada’s first Statewide Trails Plan OHV Survey.
From Nevada Offroad Association:
The State of Nevada has launched a survey as part of its first Statewide Trails Plan. This includes motorized recreation, and we strongly encourage every OHV user to participate.
Your participation matters. If OHV users don't make their voices heard, we shouldn't be surprised when future priorities don't reflect our needs.
But let's be clear about what this survey will — and will not — accomplish.
This survey will not create new trails next year, or even necessarily within the next decade. What it may do is influence the direction of Nevada's trail planning and funding priorities over the next 10, 15, or 20 years.
For perspective, the first commercially produced four-seat recreational side-by-side appeared around 2010. That was 16 years ago. Think about how much our sport, our equipment, and our recreational needs have changed since then.
Now consider what another 16 years might bring.
There is also a significant difference between identifying a need for new trails and actually putting those trails on the ground.
Much of Nevada's OHV recreation takes place on federally managed lands. A statewide survey does not supersede Bureau of Land Management (BLM) or U.S. Forest Service (USFS) travel-management decisions. Where new routes conflict with existing federal plans, those plans may need to be amended, with the applicable environmental reviews and public processes completed before trails can be authorized.
Whether you live in Nevada or not, if you wheel in Nevada we encourage you to participate and take the survey!
